[Danny Goel] "Disrupted Surgical Education and Preoperative Planning"
Dear CSS Members and Colleagues: Enclosed is a link to a vumedi.com presentation by Danny Goel on the topic of Virtual Reality for Surgeon Training. Danny was a Fellow on the Boston Institute Shoulder Service working both with myself and Dr. Higgins about 11 years ago. His presentation is especially important as this technology has the potential to create great value by reducing the time for a surgeon's learning curve while adding value to industry and surgeons in a much deeper manner. Danny has not only created a company to achieve this, Precision OS (www.precisionostech.com ), but he continues to be active as a shoulder surgeon teaching and doing research. I have been privileged to help Danny in this endeavor. As practicing surgeons we are well positioned to help surgeons solve problems and also influence industry to improve use of their implants. As the motto of the Codman Shoulder Society is “Show me something different for there is a chance of it being better”, this technology promises delivering on Codman’s request.
