The Forgetting Curve
Dear CSS Members and Colleagues:
When you go to an educational meeting what is your retention of what you learn? Enclosed is a simple graph which shows the decay of our short-term retention as long-term memory takes over. This gives insight into how we learn and perhaps amplifies the role of more engaging learning like videos on vumedi where you watch with the purpose of using what you learn. When we don’t use what we learn, we unlearn it. In fact, this may also be a tip that we can replicate learning in a cadaver lab with a more cost-effective approach such as immersive VR. Time will tell but this makes sense to me.
Kind Regards,
