Creating Value – Avoiding Complications: Registries, Measurement & Critical Introspection

Dear Colleagues:
Enclosed is a link to a recent presentation I gave both at OSET and, more recently, at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as the Freddie Fu Lecturer.
When we consider the value, we create for our patients most of us overestimate what we do and we don’t know the denominator of cases which allow us to determine our own complications and thus, present a fair risk vs benefit analysis for our patients. This presentation is a review of our prospective outcomes data and registry with specific attention to shoulder arthroplasty and incidence of complications. Moreover, I consider my own experience in the context of the literature as it relates to past experience(s) of my colleagues and errors made in the past which can inform us so we create a better outcome for our future patients.
I hope you find this of interest. Feel free to leave comments on our WhatsApp Group chat, or on our LinkedIn page, or in VuMedi, if you use this method to watch the video.
