Dear Colleagues:

Enclosed is link to a lecture I have now given at Singapore General Hospital and at Emory University as a visiting speaker for the Orthopedic Departments at both institutions. This talk deals with “Innovation.” I try to define this term in the context of “value” for not just patients, but other important stakeholders, including the hospital, the insurer, ourselves, and others.

This is a complex topic and so the talk is a bit free flowing and long, but it is intended to connect many things essential to the question of innovation; so, I hope you can digest it in sections, since I’ve introduced many concepts. Below is my framework for Innovating value:

Nothing I present here is original, and so it is intended that this might inspire you to look further into what you think innovation might be and what many others have written on the subject. Perhaps this may stimulate you to do the most important thing of all, namely ask important questions which may help you improve the care you deliver to your patients and the value you create for all the relevant stakeholders in that care delivery.

Kind Regards,

Jon “JP” Warner MD
